Weary, we are

The Bipolar Express just ran through town again. You know how it feels when you’re standing on the train platform and an express train whooshes past the platform?

j0403633.jpgMy bipolar niece is like that. She sucks the air right out of the room. She sent an email during the night denouncing the Aunts as relatives, accusing us once more of being biased and uninformed self-proclaimed experts who know nothing about anything. She is angry and offended. Again.

She still refuses to consider going back on her meds, ever defiant.

Her mother, me and the other SisterDears are weary of the fight. So we catch our breath and gather strength from one another while we wait, for the next time.

The home station will always be here for her. I have to do what mothers do. That doesn’t mean that I will be standing on the platform waiting. She knows the way home. The train isn’t out of control. Her outlook on the whole social empathy part of belonging to a family is. Like you said, “sunrise, sunset”.

“Turn around and she’s two, turn around and she’s four; turn around and she’s a young girl going out through my door”.

“Come back when you grow up girl, your just living in a make-believe world. Living ain’t easy, comeback baby, when you grow old.”

    I’ll leave the light on.

It sounds like she really does care about you guys, her aunts, or she wouldn’t bother sending an email. Mental illness is soo hard as you know, no one wants to take meds for the rest of their lives, but some need to. I hope she realizes that before she crashes. Thinking of you and your family.

I so understand to be on both platforms of this bipolar express!! Just try and fly under the radar till it goes by…..there is nothing you can do to help. Trust me.
