Manic Monday: Egg
Scroll down for Weekend Snapshot, or click here.
Our Manic Monday host Mo has given us the word “egg” this week. Being Easter week, that shouldn’t be too difficult, but perhaps just a bit too easy. Paranoid? Perhaps.
So I wondered, what egg stories did I have that didn’t involve cute little Easter Egg hunts growing up, or my nephew’s Easter Egg hunts, which were way better because they got money hidden in their eggs. Oh yeah, actual “In God We Trust” Cashola! SisterDear would put coins in some and in some she would deposit bills. Sometimes she’d even put in tickets to the Red Sox game!! SisterDear2 is very cool! But she wouldn’t let me hunt for eggs, so some cool points had to be deducted for that.
Then I recalled a day a few years ago that I was having a bunch of friends over for a Gathering. One of my guests, the very sassy wife of a co-worker, brought me a very unusual Hostess Gift. She brought me a basket of freshly laid eggs, straight from “her girls” that very morning!! She has chickens, laying hens in fact, that she originally got as chicks one Easter to delight her grandchildren.
Now, I ask you, how often have you had eggs THAT fresh? The trouble for me was, since I knew the chickens personally, I found myself unable to actually eat the eggs. Yeah, I’m just weird that way.

We hide about 24 eggs every easter. Sometimes, I will find one when I get around to cleaning a week or two later. A bonus for mom! No red sox tickets in ours, only peanut free candy! It’s not as good as finding money in the washing machine though!
I am with you on the “I can’t eat the eggs cause I knew it’s mother thing”. Good thing for us we didn’t grow up on a farm, huh?
Red Sox ticke? I want that egg!
I can definitely releate you were not able to eat the eggs…
that´s the reason why I buy them on a farmers market and not at my friend´s farm!
Happy Manic Easter Monday!
We had an Easter egg hunt on Saturday for the grandkids! They had lots of fun. I’ve added you to my blogroll. Have a great week!
I have not had a fresh egg from a hen in years. Last time I can remember it was at our summer house back in Czech Republic – our neighbors had hens. It has been almost 20 years…
Happy MM! I’m a straight-up city boy, so I’ve never had eggs that fresh in my life (smile)…
As usual, my response this week to the MM meme takes Mo’s word to a different place that is unique to the African American culture.

Nope, no really fresh eggs here. One never found Easter Egg though, from the Easter egg hunt for my cousin’s kids… I guess we’ll find it eventually
Wow, your sister rocks. That’s some cool stuff. Oh, I’ll take those fresh eggs. Yummy. Have a great MM.
Whate a great hostess gift. I have to admit. I can cook with the eggs we buy from the egg-lady, but it feels a little weird to cook them. Which is odd, cause they are so good.
I want tickets. nice egg
I used to have eggs that fresh every day… sigh. I do so miss my own `girls`. I`ve actually given a basket of fresh eggs as a hostess gift before too, haha.
Happy Manic Easter Monday.
I raised hens for the eggs. I could never eat the hens, but I had no problem eating the eggs!
Thanks for participating in Manic Mondays!
Cheers,
