This week’s theme from tnchick is ANY photo. I took this at an air show at Moody AFB on October 21, 2007. It was a glorious day to be a spectator, but the winds were really kicked up. They nearly had to call off the air show.
We ended up in the VIP section. You know, the section that’s all roped off? The one that’s smack dab in the middle right on the air strip. The one with all the free food and drinks? We just walked in with some other folks. I was trailing behind my friend, taking photos. When I walked up to join him the guards stopped me and told me I wasn’t allowed in. They had really big guns. I wasn’t going to argue. I called in to my friend, who was already seated in the bleachers, to come back out. One of the guards said “Oh, I’m sorry, ma’am, we didn’t realize you were with him”. Then he at-eased and let me in. I dunno.
We didn’t realize our dumb luck until I went up to get a bottle of water and got out my money and they said “Oh, no, no, no. It’s complimentary for the VIP’s”. Cool. We had the best seats on base, other than perhaps the cockpit. Did I mention the Free Food?
Would you like to know the name of this particular maneuver? So would I, so if you happen to know it please let me know because I forgot, probably right after they announced it. It was way cool, though!

This week’s Photo Hunter Theme is High.

I am still enjoying the lovely blooms of the Dogwoods. Spring in Southern Georgia! This is how The Swamp says “Good Morning” to me each day!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend.

This week’s Photo Hunt is Metal.
We just picked up this 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe!

It’s got lots of metal, doesn’t it? Actually, it has more metal than most cars built nowadays.

Years ago, way back in 1971, I had a 1965 Ford Mustang. A Convertible. Baby Blue. 4 on the floor. Leaf Springs and a very heavy clutch. Oh, man, it was the best!

I helped Mr. X refurbish it in his Grandmother’s heated garage over the winter up in Massachusetts. Brrr. We were still in high school. It was a lot of work, but very enjoyable and gratifying! We drove it to my Prom. We drove it on our Honeymoon. It was just the most awesome car!! It was stolen in the late 70’s.

When this Beauty came up for sale, I thought I might enjoy refurbishing another one, and so one day, the flat bed arrived!

And we took a closer look. Considering that it’s 42 years old, and considering that it needed very little coaxing to start up and run, it’s not in bad shape at all!

But considering that I am not in high school anymore, we’ve decided to re-sell it to someone who not only appreciates the beauty of the Mustang, but also has the energy and stamina that it will require to return this baby back to its’ formery glory and beauty!

I spy another eye!

I spy four little guys!

Every year we have baby squirrels that the Mama Squirrel raises in a Hidey Hole in one of our Pecan Trees. This year we have 4 baby squirrels. You can see many more photos of them here, as well as read some of their story. I’ll be doing some follow-up on them as their lives unfold.

This week’s Photo Hunt Theme is Different.
This downed tree is different from the one the Turtles usually use for their morning sunning.
We had an extreme drought here in South Georgia last year, with wildfires. This year we’re getting so much rain we’re flooding. The Swamp has had several trees fall already. The Turtles seemed pleased about this one for their daily sunning.
They usually line up according to size, largest in the front, which is different from this messy and unorganized formation.

This week’s Photo Hunt Theme is Party.
So the first thing I thought of was… Cake!
This Royal Straight Flush was the cake from the Rehearsal Dinner for Mike & Danielle, my very awesome nephew Mike and my lovely new niece, Danielle.
Danielle had this cake made just for Mike because Mike loves Texas Hold ‘em (and who wouldn’t?). Mike’s “All In”.
They got married last July. Danielle felt just a little bit bad for Mike because the rest of the Wedding was “all about Danielle”. Naturally, and why shouldn’t it be?
They just bought and moved into their very first home a few weeks ago.

Congratulations you guys! You are the coolest… except for you Bri.
If you missed yesterday’s post, I encourage you to have a look. There’s an 11 minute video that may change how you live your life.

This week’s Photo Hunter Theme is Wooden.
I decided to use my Tiki Torch for this weeks’ Wooden Theme because it’s may be the only time I’ll ever get to use it!
I’m usually in bed by 8:00, long before dark in the summer!

I usually light it only on the rare evening that isn’t so humid that it drives us back inside to the air conditioning!

The Tiki Torch is never left unattended, and is always extinguished before retiring for the evening.
