can’t you just hear the rhythm of the steel drum band?
Ahhh… a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean! As much as I loved St. Maarten and St. Thomas, my favorite times were the sea days on board the ship. So relaxing and so much fun! I took this cruise not very long after my divorce, so you know I am way overdue for another cruise! There were 22 of us and boy, did we have fun!
The Poor Bar… Where you could find us every day! In this photo, my cousin Diane, BIL Rick, SIsterDear Lynda and Rick’s BIL Dan.
The Piano Bar… Where you could find us every night! The ship actually had 2 Piano Bars, but this was my favorite. They called themselves Blazing Pianos. They each had a Baby Grand Piano which faced each other and these 2 guys were exceptionally good, and funny to boot! In this photo, BIL Rick, SisterDear Lynda, Me, Blazing Piano Dude 1, Blazing Piano Dude 2, Rick’s sister Patty and her hubby Dan and 3 people I graduated high school with. I was very surprised to see them on board, but it turns out they know my sister’s friend Suzanne, who was the Travel Agent who organized this whole thing for us! Suzanne and her hubby Kenny are the two on the far right at the top.
I think I still have this dress! OMG! hahaha! See my bare feet? They got sun poisoning the second day of the cruise and I couldn’t wear any shoes for the entire cruise. Fortunately, I did have a $2 pair of flip-flops that I literally picked up at the last moment and boy, was I glad I had them. They were the only things I could get on my feet. Can’t you just picture me in my formal dress and $2 flip-flops at the Captain’s Dinner? True! Every word!
I’m liking this scanning and reminiscing so there will be more to come!

That looks like FUN! I think you better book another cruise! You wouldn’t want to get behind on your cruises now!!

I’ve never heard of sun poisoning before, but it sounds painful. I’m glad you had your flip-flops with you. Other than that, the cruise sounds delightful.

Looks like you had lots of fun apart from the painful feet. I agree, I love the sea days, and I enjoy the seven days if we sail Transatlantic. It is amazing how many people do it then complain there are too many days at sea!!! We have to wait until October for our next cruise and then we go to Hawaii. Can’t wait!!!

PS: The comments are closed on Holly and Nana Jo ~ so I thought I’d comment here.
I understand how sad you feel that Holly can’t remember Nana Jo ~ but the good thing is that Nan Jo lives on in Holly’s genetic make up ~ she is a small but important part of Holly. So somewhere along the line you may notice that Holly does or says things Nana Jo would have done or said. And that’s wonderful.

This looks fun! I’ve never been on a cruise, and I’m not sure I’d like, as I’m not too comfortable on or in water. But I guess that’s what the piano bar is for.
