Photo Hunt: Metal
This week’s Photo Hunt is Metal.
We just picked up this 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe!
It’s got lots of metal, doesn’t it? Actually, it has more metal than most cars built nowadays.
Years ago, way back in 1971, I had a 1965 Ford Mustang. A Convertible. Baby Blue. 4 on the floor. Leaf Springs and a very heavy clutch. Oh, man, it was the best!
I helped Mr. X refurbish it in his Grandmother’s heated garage over the winter up in Massachusetts. Brrr. We were still in high school. It was a lot of work, but very enjoyable and gratifying! We drove it to my Prom. We drove it on our Honeymoon. It was just the most awesome car!! It was stolen in the late 70’s.
When this Beauty came up for sale, I thought I might enjoy refurbishing another one, and so one day, the flat bed arrived!
And we took a closer look. Considering that it’s 42 years old, and considering that it needed very little coaxing to start up and run, it’s not in bad shape at all!
But considering that I am not in high school anymore, we’ve decided to re-sell it to someone who not only appreciates the beauty of the Mustang, but also has the energy and stamina that it will require to return this baby back to its’ formery glory and beauty!

The very best job I could ever imagine is one that would pay me to think… and the currency would be wine!

metallic as in metallic! perfect shots!
Those are great shots. I had a friend in high school that had a 1970 mustang and I was so jealous.
Mustang, I have a Mustang too in my entry.
I love old mustangs, why did ford change that car……..
Sorry to hear your first one was stolen,…. and that the second one is completed? Great post and have a Happy Easter.
Mustang! That’s a perfect metal subject. Thanks for telling us the story of your love for Mustangs.
Yea.. cars of yesteryears are stronger than those of today. I still remembered my Dad’s old Fiat 1100AD. One car banged onto its rear and was badly damaged. The Fiat was free from any dents
I so remember your blue baby! It was the coolest of cars!
Nice ride! wonderful shot! Have a Wonderful Easter!Take a peak on mine here and here if you have time..;) Happy weekend!
Over here it would belong to the “Old Timers” people are collecting them and once a year there is a ralley. It just happened 3 weeks ago here in Brussels. The oldest car I saw was from 1938 !
I love mustangs. My sister just sold her 66 powder blue one not too long ago.
My metal is here.
Ah,the old Mustang. Brings back memories. Too bad our bodies don’t stay as fresh as the memories do!!
Great METAL post!!
Aww, I sure am sorry your Mustang was stolen. I know how it feels, my ‘55 Chevy had the same ending for me.
Great Metal photos!!
An old MUSTANG!!!!!!!!!!
Wow!!!!
I’d sure love to put the pedal to the metal on that one!!!
Happy weekend

It looks in wonderful condition considering its age, even the upholstery looks good. My son fell in love the moment he saw th first photo - it’s a car that looks like a car!
What a perfect choice! Because it’s a perfect car! I used to have a ‘66 and i loved it!
Oh man, I’m going to have to show the hubby this post! He loves to tinker with cars. I think this is my favorite body for a mustang. Enjoy!!
What a great post for this Photo Hunt! I had a boyfriend I dated back in the early 70’s…he had a “66″…and I got goos bumps thinking how we made out in that car! lol..Thanks for visiting my hunt today. I so appreciate your visit
Ooh Nice one. The 60s was a high point for car styling. I would love an AC Cobra of an Aston Martin DB5…. I can dream! Have a great weekend
Just an absolute beauty! Good luck refurbishing it! I hope you’ll show us when you’re finished!
That is a lot of metal!
Sorry to read that your brother passed at such a young age. Event though you weren’t close, it still must be hard.
Great post for metal!
When I saw the interior, I could SMELL it, would you believe it? Memories, memories LOL!
Thanks for visiting me. Wish you a happy Easter!
My 15yo son would love that car it is his dream vehicle.
Great hunting, mine is also up.
Wow! That mustang is a classic!
They no longer make those kinds anymore now! Even with other cars, the metal is not that strong as the mustang’s.
Happy Easter!
My college roomate drove this same model ’stang. It was considered a “classic” at the time. Such fun adventures we had in that cool car! ThanX for the visit ~ and for the trip down memory lane.
Beautiful car! Congratulations. My wife would love to have one of those, especially if it was a convertible.
My brother had one–in 1966!
Wow, beautiful photos.
Happy Easter!
The car looks big and heavy. I shudder at the thought of its mileage per gallon (or have Americans switched to liter yet?) ;(
Wow! what a lovely picture for this week theme, just keep it up and enjoy what you are doing!
Check mine also in HERE!!!
Happy Easter!
Yep, sure a whole lot of metal here…Classic metal is sure a beauty. Once its all dolléd up, it’ll shine

I love that you showed the Mustang today! My dad bought his first Mustang in 1966, which he ended up calling “the old girl” (stick shift) and bought a matching one years later who was called “the old boy” (automatic). My sister and I both learned to drive in “the old girl”.
actually, i was thinking of doing the metal theme with our car’s metal tag.
What a great car! Great take on this week’s theme! Thanks for stopping by
Oh great car!!!
Happy Weekend.
Oh wow - I always wanted one of them!
Mustangs are up in the top of my favorite car list!
My son has my old sports car - a 1980 Fiat X1/9 - he has it in 482 pieces now, and is rebuilding it.
Um… there was NOTHING wrong with it before he got hold of it and went over a roundabout instead of around it, then blew up the engine.

great idea! thanks for the visit and sorry for late response. just arrived.
That’s a wonderful classic car. Hope you enjoy restoring it and bringing out its original beauty.
I posted up a classic of another kind, sort of, in my metal photo there’s some German metal in the inside of my ‘67 VW bus. Do they even make metal bodied cars anymore?!?! Wow, certainly not like your Stangs and my VWs!
