I spy four little guys!

Every year we have baby squirrels that the Mama Squirrel raises in a Hidey Hole in one of our Pecan Trees. This year we have 4 baby squirrels. You can see many more photos of them here, as well as read some of their story. I’ll be doing some follow-up on them as their lives unfold.

Wow! I don’t remember if I have seen squirrels (yeah, we don’t have these here in a tropical country) in their natural setting or even at the zoo. Funny how totally clueless I am about them.

The baby squirrels are so cute. Do they go near or try to go in your home?

  2. eastcoastlifeon 14 Mar 2008 at 10:31 am 2

ahhhh…. they are so cute! Will they scratch or bite if you catch or hold them?

  3. napaboaniyaon 14 Mar 2008 at 10:38 am 3

Baby squirrels look like rodents in certain angles @_@
The picture of them 4 together are cute though :)

  4. maryt/theteachon 14 Mar 2008 at 10:46 am 4

They are so cute! I remember when one of my daughters was quite little and she was watching squirrels in the trees out front. She was so excited and came running to tell me, “Mom, we have monkeys in our trees!”

  39. Penelope Anne - The Mama Bearon 15 Mar 2008 at 9:43 am 39

Squirrels are a popular theme this week. I wish we had some sneaking out, birds are coming back though after the long cold winter. Nice photos.

  40. Dragonstaron 15 Mar 2008 at 11:35 am 40

So sweet! Do they do any damage?

  41. Rebeccaon 15 Mar 2008 at 12:26 pm 41

    That’s awesome! I love it…

  42. moon 15 Mar 2008 at 1:05 pm 42

As the owner of a wild bird store - I can tell you that squirrels are one thing people are passionate about: they either love ‘em or hate ‘em. For every book on keeping squirrels out of your bird feeder I sell, I sell a dozen squirrel feeders!
Great baby squirrel pics! ~ Yes, I’m a squirrel nut :)

  43. katneyon 15 Mar 2008 at 6:17 pm 43

Have you found out if it was definitley mama squirrel that was killed? Are the baby squirrels eating okay? The pictures are wonderful.

  44. SnoopyTheGoonon 16 Mar 2008 at 1:59 am 44

The pictures are smashing, and the babies really cooperated. Have a great week!

  45. Aishaon 16 Mar 2008 at 8:09 am 45

I like your pics. The squirrels are so cute!

  46. sammawowon 16 Mar 2008 at 4:45 pm 46

Those are great shots of the little squirrels. We seem to have a lot of squirrels here but I have never seen any baby ones! Terrific take on the theme this week!

  47. ZJon 16 Mar 2008 at 11:39 pm 47

Whoa - for a while I thought they were mice!
The baby squirrels look like they’re pros when it comes to posing for the cam… did you give them something beforehand to make them cooperate? :)
