Thursday Thirteen - 5th Edition

Thirteen Things I love about The Swamp

As some of you know, I moved to The Deep South, Georgia a few years ago. While my home is in a lovely subdivision built in an old Pecan Orchard, my office is located at The Swamp! My former business partner owns an unoccupied home on two acres overlooking The Swamp. And while he hopes someday to move back into the home, it’s currently my Office! Here’s 13 of the reasons I absolutely love it!

  1. Tranquility. It is so peaceful! It even smells quiet.

  2. Natural, protected wetlands. Nobody will ever be able to build and obstruct the view!

  3. Cypress Trees

  4. The pair of Canadian Geese that migrate here to mate each year. They arrived about 10 days ago. We can’t wait to see the Goslings again this Spring!

  5. Red-Tailed Hawks

  6. Beavers and all 4 of their dams

  7. Racoons

  8. Woodpeckers. We have 2 different species here, but I’m not sure which ours are. One of them is quite large!

  9. The tall Georgia Pine Trees and Pine Cones.

  10. No Alligators! Whew.

  11. Our great neighbors. Everybody looks out for each other. They are the kind of neighbors that walk around to the back patio or just come in the back door. The kind of neighbors who bring you food when you’re not well. The kind that mow your yard.

  12. Many, many kinds of birds: Crane, Egret, Cardinals, Finch, Wrens, Mockingbirds, Dove, Blue Jays, Black Birds, etc…

  13. My cats, Gandalf & Grayson, love it here. They take full advantage of the expanded Hunting Ground!! Every day is full of potential for another new Purrfect Adventure!

This is a beautiful post. Cypress trees are amazing. I remember first seeing them as a child on the road from Connecticut to Florida to see my grandmother. When we first saw these beautiful trees, I thought we had moved into a different world. All the best!

Oh the swamp is wonderful. I could stay there forever and the cats would like it too.

That sounds absolutely fabulous! My husband would give anything to have an office in that type of environment. :-D

Well, Howdy “neighbor”! (Bea-u-tiful pics - I just happen to live outside a preserve, myself, just “down the road a’ways” (N Fla.), and these look like they could have been snapped in my back yard!

Love the shot of Gandalf and Grayson enjoying the great outdoors! They must feel like such accomplished adventurers as the explore the Swamp. I was also happy to see you praise the raccoons. I live in a pretty built-up suburban area and they get a very bad rap here — just for doing what raccoons will. (Thanks for visiting my TT)

Wow!! you make the Swamp sound so nice. It looks nice in your pic. I have always thought of swamps as misquito breeding grounds and funky smells ;)
Your Swamp sounds great especially with all the wildlife. No wonder the cats like it :) Hahaha

That is an absolutely gorgeous picture!! The colors are so rich and alive (do I sound like I know what I’m talking about? *grin*). What a beautiful area!

Thanks so much for playing and get ready, voting will begin soon. Good luck and have fun!
